Rocky Wins Field Championship

Today we went to a close by lure course at the Killigrin Winery to have a try at a 3 point major. We had just enough dogs plus 1 for the major. Rocky has been up to the straight track races twice recently in an effort to get him to chase the lure correctly. His first start today was perfect but as the run continued he began to get creative and took a head over heels tumble at a corner. This gave him first place for the first half but three other dogs were just one point behind. Second run he cheat right away going away from the lure but at about the half way mark gets serious and shows all his speed and agility. That put him tied for first/best of breed/ and both dogs need this to finish their Field Championship. No pressure here. So Rocky and Ayla go to the line to settle the decision Ayla is slower but has better follow. Rocky does okay but I think Ayla is looking better when the string comes off the pully and we restart mid field for a 150 yard straight run into the finish. All that straight track practice pays off as he sizzles down the line looking really ho t. He wins the run off by a hair...a very thin hair. So thats it. He's retired from lure coursing. He will go to Eukanuba all banged up, with hair off his hip, a puncuture from the beach on his foot, a line burn across his nose and two toes line burned as well. But we WILL be smiling and head high 'DC Freedoms Tower of Power SC TD RN CGC. Great Dog!
