Nala napping at home
In 1998,
I had the opportunity to re-enter
the world of Ridgebacks.
I purchased a wonderful
12-week old show puppy and named her
"FREEDOM'S NALA BAHARI."
Nala finished her championship by going
'Best of Winners' at the prestigious
Palm Springs Kennel Club
in January 2000.
She had limited showing and was honored
with 'Best of Breed' several times.
The qualities she brought to her progeny are strength, substance, kindness, and great mental ability.
She was lovingly known as "Nala Great Heart" and the eternal mother and nurturer.
Pictured below at eleven years old,
although her face was grayer,
she was still romping with her grandchildren
and sharpening their skills at lion hunting.
She remained the matriarch of the pack
and was never questioned.
I attribute this to her unwavering quiet strength.
On the 25th of September 2010,
surrounded by her children, grandchildren,
and great-grandchildren, Nala passed away
leaving a great void to those of us at Freedom Farms.
